Hi, I'm Cara, a Jersey Girl with a big heart, easy smile + wildly perfectionistic tendencies raising my family in the midwest. I've been surviving and thriving with a debilitating autoimmune disease since 2007. I self-diagnosed my ADHD while obtaining my ADHD Life Coach Certification after 25 years in the education industry helping students learn how to learn.
In spite of challenging circumstances, I am excited every morning to get out of bed and start my day. I am content in every aspect of my life. I am living my full potential. Sounds like a dream, right? It is! And I want you to live yours.
Here's the thing: not too long ago, I was in a very different place. On the outside, I was a high achiever and overcomer with a successful learning company, strong in the face of a debilitating disease, quick with a smile, kind with my words, and generous with my time. On the inside, shame and doubt overpowered my thoughts and clouded my view.
Even the people closest to me say they had no idea how differently the woman who gave them kind words and good advice talked to herself. Does this sound familiar to you?
No one talked about highly-sensitive people or ADHD when I was growing up. I didn't know how to express that I felt like I worried too much, laughed too loud, took things to personally, or my emotions were too big. I didn't know how to fix myself, so I just kept trying harder. This turned into a relentless push to keep pushing forward: do more, be more, give more. Run faster, be nicer, smile bigger, understand better, sacrifice more...
I was consumed by the nagging feeling that I was missing something. It translated to: "you're not good enough."
Discovering my ADHD gave perspective to my challenges, but it was difficult to get an official diagnosis. I was told that I was too successful and my school track record too good to have ADHD. The road to self-advocacy has added to my knowledge and determination. We are only beginning to understand the complex ways in which ADHD affects us, and we all deserve the opportunity to live our best, most fulfilled lives.
I have made the journey from feeling shrouded by limiting beliefs and scattered with my time and emotions, to prioritizing what matters most. I help women silence negative self-talk that gets in the way of fulfillment and joy.
